FAQ
How do you know which foods my household will enjoy?
Chef Thom asks all clients to complete a Preference Profile to indicate any allergies, dietary needs, and general preferences. It is a thorough questionnaire that will help ensure the best possible service for any clients.
Do you need to prepare everything in my home?
Yes. Health Department regulations require all meals to be prepared in the home of the consumer or a licensed commercial kitchen. This guarantees the safest and highest quality of preparation for you.
Where do you do your shopping?
This depends on client preference. Chef Thom will be glad to shop at your favorite stores upon request. Otherwise he will usually strive to visit organic grocery stores, farmers markets, and specialty shops when necessary. This may require several trips to ensure you receive the highest quality ingredients that work within your budget.
Do I have to be home while you are cooking? Can I watch?
No, most clients are usually working or running errands during cook-days while meals are being prepared. Chef Thom will follow a highly specific production schedule and any distractions may result in products that are not up to the highest possible quality.
How will my meals be packaged?
Pyrex containers are ideal. These glass containers are freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Not only do these uniform containers keep your food airtight and fresh, but they also save you space in your fridge and freezer. There is a one-time fee of $50 for these containers and they are yours to keep. Disposable containers are also offered for additional costs per service date.
How do I heat my food?
Chef Thom will leave each individually labeled and dated meal with detailed heating instructions. If meals are frozen, simply thaw them in the refrigerator the night before and follow the easy instructions for your microwave or oven.
What is your cancellation policy?
For all meals, 5 days’ advance notice is required before you cancel your meal service. If you do not cancel within 5 days, the 50% deposit is forfeited.
